Hi,

I read through the link you gave me but didn’t find a solution. Is there any help that you can give me yourself in this matter? So I encoded the video in AVI Xvid with MP3 for the audio, matching the output audio bitrate & sampling rate to the source’s. However, the result is, during playback, the audio starts to go more and more out of sync with the video as it progresses.

Also, in the Xvid encoder settings, I tried selecting AAC as the audio format, as that is what the audio of the source file is encoded in. However, although I selected AAC, it still ended up encoding in MP3. Any ideas as to why that would be?

Greetings,

Not sure how you managed to encode AVI with AAC audio; all I'm offered is MP3, PCM or two variations of CCITT - don't know what that is, it seems to be prehistoric. Not that this helps you of course.

.MEP has always (or so it seems) been a little fussy with regard to certain audio files, the main problem being with audio originally recorded with variable bitrate. especially if it isn't recorded at 44.1 or 48 kHz sample rate. On occasion I have big problems with old files encoded to AAC at 22.05kHz not even being imported by MEP.

Whenever I've come across this problem I've converted the original to PCM and used that instead of the video's actual audio. It works for me but it is a bit of a "faff" and in an ideal world shouldn't be necessary.

@jak.willis

Is there a reason why you need to use the XVid codec?

AFAICS it relies on the old h.263 video codec, which has been superseded by the superior h.264 and more recently h.265 codecs.
