Hi.  You can use the 'Backgrounds' in several ways:-  apply the Background FIRST,and then you can use it for "Picture-in picture" (PiP) effects; alternatively,you can use a Background for your 'ChromaKey/GreenScreen' video overlays,or just use them as backdrops for the Effects.objects,etc.supplied within the program itself!  Experiment and have fun!   best wishes,  Ray.

PS: Really sorry,but I misled you as to what I freally should have suggested:-  FIRST of all,add yourvideo footage/pics,etc., to theTimeline.  Then select/add  one of the Backgrounds to the Timeline beneath your video. This will actually be displayed BEHIND your main video.  What you can then do,is to  resize your video,and the Background will become visible.  If your video footage has been filmed in front of a GreenScreen,use the ChromaKey effect on it,to overlay it onto the background.. Hope this clarifies it for you a bit better now??!!   Ray.
