Bad Audio on track 2 of the timeline, video pro X11

djlav wrote on 2/9/2022, 9:33 AM

When I separate the audio from the video (audio going to the second track on the timeline) , the audio is harsh. It seems to cut frequencies below 600 and enhance hi frequencies over 6K. It sounds normal if I put it back with the video on track 1, or if I ungroup them and put the audio on track 3. I have been searching in preferences to see if there was some kind of master EQ filter that you can set for the individual tracks of the timeline but I don't see such a feature. I have tried creating new projects and the result is always the same for track 2. Anyone else experience this? Or know of a solution?

Hi Doug and welcome to the user to user forums.

This is a new one on me and not something I have ever suffered from.

In your movie settings have you set it to have the same settings for new projects?

If you have try turning that off and then save. Then open the editor again and create a new project and see if the problem persists. Not that I have ever noticed a project to retain a mixer setting but you never know.

Ray.

Hi

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip to get all the data.

You will find the track effects you are looking for in the Mixer under the FX button

You may also find you have more VST effects under the + button shown below

Thanks for the responses. In my case it was the mixer. I can't remember the last time I opened the mixer, but there it was the FX button was pushed on track 2 and lows were cut. I work with interviews done on a variety gear so I adjust EQ and volume by clip. I completely forgot about the mixer since I have never had the need for track-wide effects but at some point I went in and played with it and forgot to turn off the effect button.

Thank-you for pointing out what should have been obvious solution Johnebaker, my brain was not going there.
