Batch Recording MEP 2013 Plus

mjfabs wrote on 10/12/2013, 8:40 PM

I'm having issues using the batch recording feature in MEP 2013 Plus. After I get my "recording list" set, I hit the record button, the software rewinds my DV camera tape to the first clip in the list start time, and then appears to start recording. However, the tape keeps running and nothing get recorded. The prevew screen is gray. When I try to stop it, everything is frozen. I can record without the batch capture feature without a problem. I download the update but still no resolution. I have a Sony HDR-HC9 HDV Camera connected via firewire to a HP Envy h8-1417c Desktop Intel Core i7-3770, 2 TB Hard Drive. Any ideas on what the problem is???? Thanks

Hi

Which Firewire card do you have installed in the computer?

Are the Firewire card drivers up to date?

Is the Firewire card recognised by MEP?

What options are you selecting in the record dialog for recording device?

John,

I have a SIIG DP FireWire 800 3-Port PCle for Windows 8. It has 2 Firewire 800 ports & 1 Firewire 400 port (which I'm using). I checked the drivers and they are all up to date. I'm not sure if this card is recognized by MEP (where would I find out?). Also, I can record the video but not with the Batch recording feature.

Also, in the record dialog box it says: Microsoft DV Camera & VCR

Thanks for the help!

Hi

Can you control the camera with the DV transport controls shown below?

If you cannot control the camera fully then the

. . .  in the record dialog box . . Microsoft DV Camera & VCR . . . .

suggests you may have the wrong drivers installed - MEP should see the SIIG Firewire card card, however you may need to install 32 bit drivers - see this tutorial (it is also relevant to Windows 8)

John,

I can control the camera with the controls. Everything seems to work as it should except when I go to record from a batch of video clips. It rewinds back to the start of the first clip and starts running but doesnt record and keeps running. I tried your advice to install the 32 bit drivers but my computer wont let me and I dont seen the legacy option? Thanks for the help.

John,

One other thing. If I do HDV recording everything works perfectly. The "Select DV device driver" shows my Sony HDR Camera. But when I change the camera to "I.Link Conversion" to HDV to DV, this is when I have trouble. The "Select DV device driver" then shows Microsoft DV Camera & VCR. I can record, but not using the batch option.
