Black frame between clips

peterpan73 wrote on 6/5/2017, 4:21 AM

I've got strange problem. The clips are connected a "black frame". This can be seen on the preview and on the exported film. When I watch fade (or rather "cut- no fade") again, the black frame disappears (sometimes I must play "fade" twice). Clips: .mts (JVC camcoder). Computer: Lenovo ideapad 700, windows 10. I try different settings in program (MEP 2016) update drivers and codec - any results. Any ideas ?

Hi,

Check on the time line for space between clip to close space use the mouse click the clip this become yellow rectangle and push on the left to hit the previous clip (before check if the magnet icon just under the view screen is active). Normally is the magnet is active and the mouse mode is for only one track because Magix has many mouse mode check it under the view screen.

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

As yvon-robert says, you need to check carefully that the two adjacent clips are absolutely and precisely butted up to each other and that there is not a black frame at the end of each clip. To test this latter situation (it is not unknown for .mts clips to have something "wrong" on the very last frame) concentrate on one clip; move the cursor/timeline indicator to the very end of the clip and then use Ctrl+mouse wheel to zoom right in to the cursor point; using the left (backwards) and right (forwards) arrow keys move the cursor until you are viewing the very last frame; each press of the arrow key will move forwards or backwards by one frame. Is it black? If so, you can delete it (using the normal cut routine).

If not, it is possible that the first frame of the next clip is black. You need to check and, if it is, delete it.

Hi

Check that you have the latest patch version 15.0.0.107 installed.

Black frames appearing can be a result of:

  1. The project frame rate setting and the video frame rate are not the same eg project 30 and video 29.97 fps.

  2. If the camera recording media is a memory card or camera internal memory and the video is a long segment, it is possible that it spans multiple files 1GB files which can introduce a black frame because they are imported directly from the camera or card.

In either case MEP has the option to automatically remove a user set number of frames at the start and end of video clips on import.

Thanks for the tips, but it's not solving the problem. Clips are "absolutely and precisely butted up to each other" and havn't black frames on start/end. Project and video have the same video frame rate (PAL 1920x1080-25fps). I make short movie (4 clips) and expoted to mt2s (black blinks still on) . I can sent it to someone experience to check (movie, project and clips - 60 MB).

Hi again.

I can sent it to someone experience to check (movie, project and clips - 60 MB).

Please do so by uploading it to a file sharing site of your choice, e.g. Dropbox, and providing a link here.

Can you confirm you are using MEP 2016 (which "version", Basic, Plus or Premium) and that you have checked for updates (via Help>Online update)?

Just as a matter of information, why are you exporting the clips to mt2s format? Your original post suggests they are mts from the camera.

MEP 2016 basic. Updates installed. I export to mt2s because I don't see option export to mts in the menu.

I try change other options - on/off deinterlacing, switch graphic cards - problem still exist !

Hi, thank you very much.

I have downloaded your files and will test them later - I have to go out now.

Hi

Thanks for the download of the files.

I have tested these in MEP 2016 and do not see the black frame on the timeline, however if I export the timeline to AVCHD (mt2s) then there is 1 black frame at each cut as in your exported file.

I also tried 2 new projects in MEP 2016

Imported clips as is and exported to AVCHD - got black frames

Set MEP to crop first and last frame on import, as shown below, and exported to AVCHD - no black frames

The only odd things I can see are:

  1. MEP reports the videos are 1 frame longer than MediaInfo.

  2. Three of the clips 01712, 01928,and 02019 are exactly the same length at 3s 21 frames (MEP) , 3s 20 frames (MediaInfo).

Have the video clips have been edited and re-exported before importing into your testy.mvp project, if yes what did you use and why?

Files were not edited. Just copied from the memory card. If cut first/last frames (tick in option) is helpfull and solve a problem - I will survive it 😃. I have to test it on longer movie and let You know.

emmrecs wrote on 6/9/2017, 6:27 AM

Hi.

I also see the black frames in your exported version, though not in the originals, but I also found another workaround to "remove" them!

I use a free utility called tsMuxeR 2, available from https://www.videohelp.com/software/tsMuxeR. I opened your three source files, the first one first (using "Add" option) then the others, in order, using the "Join" command. The actual process, after pressing "Start Muxing", took about 1 second (!) and the three files were now one, without any black frames. I tested this by playing the new joined file and, at the scene changes, stepping through the footage frame by frame.

So, there is now one continuous file, containing all the footage from the three originals, which can be edited as normal.

I export to mt2s because I don't see option export to mts in the menu.

Use the MPEG4 export template "AVCHD Transport Stream........"

Dear Scenestealer - I've got only m2ts in template. But isn't problem for me. Thanks.

Scenestealer wrote on 6/29/2017, 5:54 PM

Sorry my mistake - the mts files always become m2ts on export. Can not say why but it is normal.
