Black Screen Preview

Hi everyone,

I am currently using the Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium which I bought a few years ago. On my Windows 10 PC with sufficient amount of GPU and RAM.

As seen in the picture, even after activating and purchasing the HEVC Codec Upgrade, my MOV. files or my Apple videos cannot be played on the Screen Preview.

The screen is black BUT I can hear the audio of the video clearly.

Please do help me out thank you!

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

Take a look at this forum topic and see if the solution also helps you. It may not as I don't think MEP 2016 runs that well on Windows 10. Then again you may be lucky.

Also don't think of upgrading to a newer version of MEP unless your hardware will support all of the minimum specification requirements.

What is your computer specification? See this topic for details required and please quote the processor, and any graphics card installed, make model in full.

If you are getting a black preview monitor with the HEVC codec installed then this may be an issue with the computer hardware or settings.

Hi.

Your computer specs would support the new version of Movie Edit Pro going by your spec sheet.

In the mean time try looking at the program settings and not having the 'Use hardware acceleration boxes where possible' ticked. It's not that the computer could not do it but more that the version of MEP you are running may not be able to take advantage of the newer versions of Direct X. It that works but you need a quicker export time then updating the program may help.

However, due to the age of your current program version, not ticking that option may not help at all.

Maybe though the easiest option may be just to convert your mov files to constant frame rate MP4 files as there could still be a problem with the files themselves.
