Blackouts during photo fades

Version 16.0.3.66

A project I've spent long hours on suddenly has gone glitchy, with black replacing some fade-ins -- but only after rendering. Preview looks fine. There are maybe 40 fades in this video, and the glitch occurs in maybe 5. I just updated, in hopes that might fix it, but the problem persists. Ouch. 😐

Update -- Lucky guess -- I replaced the straight crossfades with custom crossfades, and the problem was "cured". Not solved, but easily worked around...
