Blurring only part of the video [Movie Edit Pro 2015]

dannenbr wrote on 11/8/2016, 7:28 AM

Hello,

I've recorded two videos and put them on the same screen together, split down the middle (the second video is on track 2 and is sectioned to be 50% big with the position set to the left side of the screen). It's supposed to look like there are two of me in the screen with this microphone in the center, but it's not seamless. You can tell the screen is split and that it's actually 2 videos. I would like to blur the center slightly to make that less apparent. Here is a picture of the center of the video:

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Again, you need a mask. Here is one that you can try. The split is at the middle, but the feathering is towards the right.

Place it between the 2 video tracks as shown. Give it Chromakey alpha. You may have to flip the arrow. In my image, track one is the left side, track 3 at the right side and the left edge is at exactly the centre, but the effect is slightly to the right.

If you need mask to be off-centred, then increase the size of the mask using zoom and then move it, otherwise the left or the right side of your images will not be masked correctly.

Wohoo! Thank you so much, John! You've been so helpful, the mask worked. Have a wonderful day! :)

Hey there. Is this thread still active?

I am using the mask you uploaded to dropbox a while ago but turned 180 degrees and for some reason I can't seem to get it to mask the line in the middle of these two videos. Here is an image of the line:

My video on track 1 is on the left side of the screen and my video on track 3 is on the right side of the screen, each equally sharing 50% of the screen.

Do I need to move the feathered part of the mask over more to one side to get it to cover up this line?

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

You lost me there. What are the red lines?

Did you give the mask a chromakey alpha effect?

You can try moving the mask left and right to see if that helps.
