BorisFX managing Samplitude family of products now.....

GRB wrote on 8/21/2025, 10:55 AM

I got the email about my Samplitude products now being managed by BorisFX... I opened an account and saw that my licenses were not there, so I opened a support ticket asking about the product transfers, access, and license code parking.....

I had a reply within 1 hour or less even!!! Pretty impressive response time and a good first impression!

Wanted to share the Kudo and good experience.

PS, I also sent a suggestion/plea for them to save ACID Pro too! :)

Cheers and may the Music Season be 24/7/365 !

Some additional information:

It seems the trial serial number generation doesn't work at the moment, so you can't test the new version.

Upgrading currently doesn't work. The shop doesn't recognize already owned licenses.

Both problems will surely be corrected over the next couple of days.

You need to keep X8 installed, if you want to keep using old content that is missing in the new version. For example, it seems some Vita Instruments can no longer be included because of licensing issues.

The reduced upgrade price is only valid until September 26th 2025!!!

What..... no vita instruments in the new version.... thats huge to me... I love the Vita stuff I've collected over the years.... .damn, thats a big setback if so..... Hmmm, maybe I spoke and Kudo'd too soon.... ouch!

Ok, I'm seeing virtual instruments, FX, etc listed on the new Samplitude 2025 page... so maybe its just delayed in offering/specs? If they limit or remove previously owned ones (collected) thats a big miss....

@GRB Like I wrote, some instruments are missing, not all. I think there were 47 in X8 and there are 37 in version 2025.

Ok, thats closer than "removed" ... I missed your "some" wording... lol

Hi there mates!

Unfortunately, the missing instruments issue actually sucks...

I can't see what those "licensing issues" stated by BorisFX might ever be, as Indeed the missing Vita Solo Instruments are definitely MAGIX releases exactly just like the included ones. Among these "CHOIR", "CHURCH ORGAN", "URBAN DRUMS", "CINEMATIC SOUNDSCAPES"... HUGE instruments..!!!....

I collected ALL those classic VITA Solo Instruments with several MAGIX Samplitude versions and MUSIC MAKER through years, thus they are part of several projects of mine.

By the way, as I have ALL those Vita instruments already installed and licensed via MUSIC MAKER (I've always done this before installing any Samplitude version on my systems), hope this way they will STILL be ALL available and usable in new Samplitude/Music Studio versions too right away, without reinstalling, as it used to be. Otherwise, imagine what a huge mess it would turn out to be....

Too bad in any case if BORISFX don't bring Vita Solo Instruments ALL back in... let's hope just question of (short) time...

Hey Steve, thats not great to hear and find out... maybe my hope and excitement for BorisFX taking over some Magix products was too soon... I don't like when any company adds a few things and takes things away (been done before by many other companies and I feel a bad marketing move).... then at some point they Re-Release them or make them avail to add for a price or upgrade later... usually about money marketing... its sad if this is the case... and I agree with you and have done the same with many many years of collecting Magix content through many different products and upgrades/special offers (paid) over the last 10 years... I don't see how its justified to take a users "goodies" away if they already own them....

Yes GRB, I understand your points and totally agree... I feel very disappointed (at the moment) by BORISFX on this issue... let's see how (and if) there will be further developments on this subject.

Regards and "see" you soon.

@Steve_GothAngel_ I'm under the impression that at least a big chunk of missing Vita instruments are the ones originally made or released by Best Service. I think Vita Accordions are based on Eduardo Tarilonte Accordions, Analog Synths 1 and 2 are base on Best Service Titan, The church organ could be based on Best Service Organum Venezia, the Cello is maybe from Chris Hein's Solo Cello. World Flutes are likely based on Eduardo Tarilonte's Era or Forest Kingdom libraries. These are the likely "licensing issues" why they couldn't transfer them into Samplitude Suite 2025.

Most of the remaining instruments use the old samples by Yellow Tools, the original developers of the Independence Sampler (now also missing in Samplitude, so it stays with Magix) and Kirk Hunter.

Bad news, Boris FX confirms in the changelogs of Samplitude 2025 that the new version cannot load Vita Instruments bought in the Music Maker store:

https://borisfx.com/release-notes/samplitude-suite-2025-release-notes

This is likely due to the same "licensing issues".

Removed MAGIX or legacy technologies

  • [SEQD-324] CD burning and ripping
You still can use CD authoring and either CUE or DDP export

New Prepare CD Audio dialog replaces old CD burning dialog

DDP Import / Export now also available for Samplitude (Standard version)

Additional normalisation options for offline CD image export now also available for Samplitude (Suite + Standard version)

    “CD/DVD” menu renamed to “CD”

The currenty supplied DDP-Export version doesn’t support CD text for legal reasons

you can use an older version now
is planned be added again in a future version

  • MAGIX Music Maker Shop access

Vita Solo Instruments purchased via Music Maker Shop can’t be used anymore

  • Independence Sampler

will not be part of the installation anymore

you can still use installed versions

  • Orange Vocoder ME

will not be part of the installation anymore

for loading old projects you will have to copy it manually from an old installation

  • Object Synthesizers

will not be part of the installation anymore, since they are 32 bit only

for loading old projects you will have to copy them manually from an old installation

  • BitMachine

not availabale for new projects anymore, since it is 32 bit only

loading of old projects still supported

  • MME audio system

Use WDM instead, MME isn’t supported by current Windows versions or drivers

  • [SEQD-342] FlexASIO as alternative universal ASIO driver replacing MAGIX Low Latency driver

  • [SEQD-290] Sentry replaces old crash guard

  • [SEQD-383] MAGIX remote controller app support removed

Omg, that's terrible news SP.... thanks for looking into this and sharing the info though... good to know. I was hoping and excited that they may buy ACID PRO also and breathe life into it... but this is not the kind of life and $$$ I had in mind for ACID PRO saving....

@SP.

Hi There SP., thank you for your precious (as always) search and info.

Those details in the release notes confirm what we were fearing... Samplitude has been stripped down as a lot of things have been cut off following the company change, many VITA Solo instruments being the most notable ones to me, so as the Vita Solo Instruments purchased via Music Maker not usable anymore... No good.... HUGE mess...

I would underline that, no matter who originally made those missing Instruments, indeed they were anyway and eventually released, licensed and owned by MAGIX themselves, and part of the (MAGIX) Samplitude package, thus indeed I don't see why they should not be kept in the new version....

Being a loyal MAGIX user, as I've been buying and collecting all Their Audio Software licenses for longer than 20 years now, gotta admit I don't feel "excited" for what's going on... and, at the least at the moment, I have the feeling this is going to be a turning point, towards other "directions"...

Well, let's see what the forthcoming future brings, but, ya know, if a good day starts in the morning...

Thank you and see ya soon mates...

...well, I'm back just with some more points/thoughts...

1) Upgrade prices TOO high and for a limited time only (?????????????????????)

2) CD burning/authoring, no longer available (for a mastering capable DAW this is unbelievable serious lack...)

3) Independence not included

4) ...and, hold on tight guys.... as the worst has yet to arrive.... only one single machine license, instead of two simultaneous machines activation allowed as it used to be with MAGIX...???!!!!....

So, basically, we should pay more, to get less.... mmmh........ what a "deal"....!....

To me, these points, along with the many missing instruments dirty affair, are enough to state BorisFX has currently brought to us long time Samplitude users only a "HUGE DISASTER".........

Regards.

Here is a response from the Samplitude team:

Dear Community,

We understand that the recent changes to Samplitude and Sequoia are a very emotional topic. Your commitment shows us how important these tools are to you, and that motivates us greatly. We are convinced that Boris FX’s promise to sustainably invest in the future of our products is more relevant and true than ever.

[...]

As we have mentioned several times, we take every piece of feedback seriously and discuss each criticism internally.

We are aware that questions about feature decisions, single-user licensing, and content previously purchased from the Magix shop (e.g., Vita instruments) are currently on many of your minds. In our Help Center and on our FAQ page, we offer initial workarounds to ensure you can quickly find answers and solutions.

We continue to work on solutions for the issues you have raised. With upcoming updates or versions, we will, as always, respond to your feedback.

Thank you very much for your patience and trust. Together with you, we want to further develop and strengthen Samplitude and Sequoia.

Best regards,

Your Samplitude Team

Magix sold Sequoia and Samplitude. Magix should sell Acid and Sound Forge. Only Vegas is updated.

@john_barr

Please do not post untruths; Only Vegas is updated is demonstrably wrong since each of Music Maker, Video Deluxe and Video Pro X have all been recently updated.

I meant that Vegas is the most up-to-date software. Am I wrong?

@john_barr

If by most up-to-date you mean the one which was updated more recently than any of the others I listed, I believe the answer is No.
