"Camera/Zoom" tool vs. "Section" tool

(MEP MX18)

Hi. To anyone who's used these tools, do you see a difference? I made a copy of an 11 sec. HD clip. I applied the "cam/zoom" effect to one and the "section" effect to the other. Exported to mpg. I do not see any difference between the two. (The Help file wasn't any help.)

Thanks.

Hi Kami,

Can you describe exactly what operation you performed please? A simple crop with no zooming or panning?

Hi Kami

Section/Zoom - is a keyframe animated effect which moves a previously selected frame inside the image, this imitates a camera movement or zoom, you can adjust the start and end frame sizes and positions and other parameters in the dialog for direction and the effect properties.

The effect is sometimes known as the Ken Burns effect.

Here is an example of the effect applied to an image

Section - is a static effect for selecting an area of the image and, and how it displays/effects the mage depends on the options selected eg, full screen, different image ratios etc.

Hi John, If your sample is a still frame, then I get it. I was using Section as I used Zoom.

Replying in this "new" posting system is confusing me, so sorry for duplications.

Hi Kami

This is an example of how to use Camera/zoom on video - is the same as for a still image.
