I have a Yamah keyboard plugged via usb cable to computer and I do want to compose MIDI with magix software to record what I play in my keyboard as MIDI format. My keyboard has been already identified in software, but when I press keys in my keyboard magix software doesn’t show any thing. What I exactly do want to do is when I play a melody with my keyboard, it has to be written in MIDI sheet. How can I do that?

I use MAGIX Music Maker 17 Premium Download Version

thanks but it didnt work,,,,

when I press the keys in my keyboard MIDI sheet dosn't record it, is there some other way to get this thing done

thnks

Are you using the MIDI editor in the Music Maker?

MIDI is not sound, so therefore, what will be recorded is actually data, note, velocity, sustain... etc. This can be assigned an instrument that a synthesizer will mimic.

So this is how I would do what I think your attempting to do.

1. I would create a MIDI track in one of the tracks available from the Music Maker arrangement. I think this can be done by right clicking in the track of the arrangement and selecting to create a new MIDI object...

2. I then double click the object that is created and that opens the MIDI Editor. In my case, I also had to empty the data. I did that by hitting the CTRL+DEL keys.

3. I now use the record button at the bottom and test that it is recording the data as I press keys.

Something you should understand also, there can be a delay, especially if your system is being over taxed by this process. Computers not built around MIDI composition can suffer because they are not designed to do the tasks requested... they can do them but with some limitations.

I hope that helps somewhat.
