I just purchased MAGIX EDIT PRO PREMIUM (LATEST VERSION). I am running out of space on my laptop. I would like to know if I can install MAGIX EDIT PRO on a 200GB portable USB hard drive, connected to my laptop? What are the pros and cons?
I would whole-heartedly endorse what @Former user has written! I'm honestly not sure it would even work to any acceptable degree!
The installation writes a lot of data to your Registry, as well as (by default) putting a number of files on C:\ (even if, like I do, the main program installation is on a second internal drive, e.g., D:\). IOW, some space is bound to be taken from C:\, wherever the main program is installed.
Then, because of those Registry entries, I'm not at all sure what would happen if you ever booted your laptop and your external USB drive was not connected, for any reason.
One further possible complication: Windows may default to turning off any external drive (if it thinks it is not being "used"); I suspect that would be disastrous to the continuous operation of MEP.
Something else to consider: the advice here is always, wherever possible, to have Windows, Programs and Data (in this case, video files) on separate hard drives, to try and ensure no bottleneck of throughput.

EDIT, to add: the actual program folder is 1.2 GB (MEP Premium 2022) on my system.
