maybe it's not possible to recover your crashed file...

but you could look for a backup file of your arrangement (there should be automatically saving), look for the latest backup... and change the file ending from .bak to .mmm

this mmm-file you can open with musicmaker...

As smartsmurf has said you can look for backup file that is correct. But I would like to add further what I have learned using MMM 16 Premium.

Before I explain, you did not mention Music Maker version neither windows OS, Xp, Vista or Windows 7.

I am going to share what I use ok;

Music Maker 16 Premium.

Windows Vista home premium (Japanese)

Computer Dell Laptop.(model is not important here)

In problem like yours, we can find our lost data if we got backup file BAK. Normally it saves along with arrangements. If you do not got any saved arrangements or BAK files in that case. Better check as explain below. You should locate your Prgram Data or whatever according to your OS and Music Maker version.

Here we are looking for CRASH folder of Music Maker.

C drive, in windows vista Program data is hidden therefore, to view we have to change some settings.

File path C:Program Data/ Magix/Music Maker 16 Premium.

Inside that you will find User Data. Click on it. You will find a folder named Crash, open it.

When you will open you can find the saved crashed file as you can see in the screen shot below;

If you click or double click on the file it will open your lost settings or whatever it was. If you got more crashed file you should trace what you are looking for with the time and date of the file.

Note: the above method should work fine unless you did not change any computer settings or delete.

Hope this answer will help you and others too.

If you need further help send message with details.

Having the same problem now, with MM2013 (win7)

Only thing is, i have no Crash directory in the UserData directory.
Also via the auto backup it's no use at it reffers to an older file.

So, the question remains, if the original MMM file was corrupted after the crash, can this file be repaired by, for example, open it in Wordpad, edit it or remove the code that makes this file corrupted.

OR maybe there is a way, of copying the code inside this file that is still correct, into a NEW MMM file, so that at least the arrangement is saved ?

Anyone ?
(This maybe sounds desperate... because it is)

This is very old thread, ask question once again with details.
