If you create original beats, meaning every note and sequences of drum and cymbal beats, not someone else's music, they are yours. If you use any loops, sounds, preset beats, images, etc. created by Magix or Catooh or that came with the program, they are not yours and you require the appropriate licenses. See licensing with Magix and Catooh for details. See EULA on the Magix website or included with your MMM program. On the Catooh site, the type of license that you have for each product, i.e. soundpools, songs, etc. is indicated along with your purchases.

What's the point on buying the software if you can't use the sounds and intruments?

You can use the sound of an instrument by creating a midi song. You can play an external keyboard to create a midi file and edit it with the program, applying the instruments to your music. Or you can play a song on your keyboard of your own composition using the instruments provided with the keyboard. You can use your keyboard to create drum and cymbal beats and edit them in MMM as midi files. You can record your voice, singing, playing the guitar, playing any instrument, without problems so long as it is your original composition, otherwise you run into copyright issues with the original lyricist and music composer and not just Magix.

You cannot simply link the soundpools together and call it yours and sell it without having the appropriate licenses.Soundpools are compositions created by professional musicians and licensed either for private or commercial use.

Bottom line, create your own work of art if you want to sell it.

Theres more than one licenses which license do I use and if I buy it does that make it mines? In that case that's double paying and I feel like I wasted alot of money......

You can never make someone else's music yours. You can only obtain a license to use it.

Look at the various licenses with the products. In Catooh, select the Sound Pool 20 that you have and you will see that the unlimited license costs 199$. Under License, click on "Audio Pro Unlimited WAV" and read the license conditions.

What you have is for private use. If and when you have created something that you want to sell, if it uses soundpool loops, then only purchase the appropriate license for what you use. I have many different soundpools and some of them came with the unlimited license. These show up under My Account, Media Bought.

You can find other loops on the internet, many are free to obtain and use, others are Royalty Free but you have to purchase them. Royalty Free does not mean that the music is free, only that you do not have to pay royalties for using it. This is similar to the Magix licensing in which you obtain the appropriate license but you don't have to pay royalties. You may still have to prove that you purchased the rights to use the music.

As for double-paying, you did not pay very much for what you got. Most music sites will sell/license you music but you have to pay a lot just to get it. Magix gives you a lot for a relatively low price, but for private use only. If you want to commercialize it, then you have to pay for the appropriate license.

If you want to monetize your production on YouTube for example, you will likely have to prove that you have the appropriate licenses for all music, images, etc. that are not your original work. Otherwise YouTube will not permit your work to be monetized. See their site. There are excellent videos and information as to what you can and cannot do.

Now it's time to produce something!
