Can SF play continuously as you edit?

I'm editing an audiobook and while the audio file is in play, I often scroll ahead to look for issues such as loud breaths, retakes, etc. But anytime I do anything (mute, delete, etc.), SF stops playback. Is this because it's a destructive editing application and it has to refresh the file when anything's done to it? I can edit audio in Reaper while it's in play without any issue, but I appreciate that Reaper uses non-destructive editing. Thanks a mill.

Hi @Paul-Fegan, have you tried disabling "Seek cursor on Playback" in the 'Options' menu. Keyboard shortcut: F .

btw, there is a non-destructive mode, Save as, SF Project file <.frg>.
The 'Event' mode is similar editing in Vegas or Reaper.

Hi Rick, thanks for those. I had actually disabled Seek cursor on playback, which helped a bit in that when I selected something for processing, it didn't reset the play head. But as soon as I did anything to that audio, playback stopped.

I had no idea saving as a Project file switched to a non-destuctive mode. That's amazing; I have to try that.

I occasionally enter Event Mode, usually when I'm trying to overlap two pieces of audio (e.g. where someone is supposed to be interrupting another), but hadn't checked out the functionality when muting, lowering volume, etc. Will take a more in-depth look.

This is really helpful. Thanks a million, Rick.

In SF, the 'events' have a gain setting as well to attenuate events' volume individually in addition to the timeline volume, graphic fade and volume envelope plug-in..

This is really helpful, Rick. Where the hell would we be without you patrolling these pages?! 😁

Thank you very much.
