can someone help me fix audio sync problem please

I hope someone can help. I am using MEP17 and trying to open MP4 videos from a Samsung phone camera. The audio is out of sync and only runs for a short time, 10-50 seconds then drops out, I think when it is too far out of sync it gives up. The fps rate seems to vary on different videos taken on the same phone - it says 30fps on the properties tab for each file but in Magix when it asks if I want to adjust the fps to the movie being opened  the dialogue box which opens it states the fps being opened to varies between15.9, 23.39 for example. I've tried clicking 'adjust' and not clicking adjust, setting the exact project settings to match the file being opened - nothing works. Can anyone help please?

Hi

This is an issue with video from a mobile phone.

Many mobiles claim to use  'standard' video formats, however they customise the video frames per second, or make them variable so they are 'non standard'.

This is what you are seeing with the fps varying from 15.9 - 23.39.

The only possibility is to use the Samsung supplied software to import the videos and see if they can be exported at the same framerates eg 25 or 30 fps

HTH

Hi John,

Thank you for your answer, it sounds as though you have exactly summed up the problem. I tried the clips in Windows Movie Maker and the audio is fine on the resulting DVD but the pictures are jerky and the frame transitions are not comfortable to watch, unlike in MEP17 where the video is superb but the audio drops out . Excellent suggestion to use the Samsung software - I shall try that. Thanks again.
