Can't Get A Recording Signal On Magix 17

I have Magix 17 and want to record my guitar, problem is that I can't get Magix to pick up any signal.

When I select "record" a pop up directs me to switch to the Asio driver which I do, but no luck. My mic input is working because I hear the sound of it connecting when I put the guitar jack in. I suspect that I'm missing something obvious here but I'm at a loss to figure out what.

When I check the Audi/Midi tab in programme settings, the input device is empty - suspect that this is the problem. Anybody know how to add the mic input to this menu?

I only got Magix 17 so that I could record my guitar so any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have a soundcard that might need some direction ?  Do you have athe recording volume turned up ?

Can you record yur pwn voice ?  Do you have the right type of cord connectors ....3 way to a 2 way, mono to stereo, that type of thing.  Its been my experience wiht Magix that it is so flexible that most problems are easy fixes that you  over look some un-checked box,  or your at the wrong place ,,,,,even if you have cheacked the box yesterday. you might have to check it again today.  Hope this was of some help
