Confirm you are in the 'Edit tool' mode 'Edit > Tools', Not Event, Envelope, Pencil' or something else .

yes, i just click on the waveform as i always have and it shows a cursor with either an L or a R on it. when i open my sound forge 10, it doesn't and has never shown an L or R, it has a - next to the cursor. What am I doing wrong. I've been using Sound Forge for about 20 years. Thanks for helping.

in particular, the cursor doesn't work when it's in 24:1 view.

can't get it to the point of seeing the dots, and the cursor seems to not place where i click anyway. it's to the right or left.

it seemed to be something i'd never encountered. Quantize to frames. I clicked that and it seems to be fixed. Why would that be turned on by default? Grr.

i see now the L and R are when it's hovering over one of the channels. Hadn't noticed that before. Just edited the channnels as needed.

Quantize to frame is basically for video, too low resolution for most audio editing work. Each 30 fps video frame is approx 33 milliseconds or 1450 samples @ 48k. SF can edit down to a single sample.

btw, you can also mute individual channels on the 'Level Ruler' Show/Hide in "Options> Data Window"

The problem has returned where I cannot click on the dots to edit. Very frustrating. Never had this issue with SoundForge 10. Cannot edit my music. Help please. Thanks. Jim A.
