Can't save sound recordings from vinyl rsestoration tool as mp3

Michael-Parton wrote on 6/13/2025, 6:33 PM

This a repeat request for assistance. I am using Sound Forge Audio Studio 17, which I purchased a few weeks ago, to digitze my cassettes and LPs. I recorded a 90 minute cassette, and followed the instructions from the vinyl restoration tool. I used the markers to identify the tracks, then named each of the tracks, last was to save as MP3 which it wouldn't do. The progress window remained black, and only showed 0%. I waited a long time with no avail. Back wasn't an option. Wound up losing the recorded tracks. I tried it again with one song. No luck. I brought in a .wave song via the file menu and it would save it as MP3. I checked file explorer to if something might checked wrong. Everything looked okay. Evidently, there must be bug in the vinyl restoration tool app. My computer is a Dell i7ultra, 32 Gb ram, 1 Tb ssd, running windows 11 home. I need some help or Sound Forge Audio Studio is going in the trash can, as well as having a very dissatisfied customer.

No, I am just trying to get some help. Had a ticket with support. Never heard from them until they said the ticket had expired. It was a couple of weeks of waiting.

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Michael-Parton.
What folder are you using for temporary files and record data (Options> Preferences> General)?
Did you choose 'Save as> MP3" after the recording and/or restoration process? It is a good idea to save audio data as a PCM (,wav) file immediately after recording, then run the restoration tool(s). Finally encode MP3(s) for end users after all editing and restoration is complete.
You might also try; "Reset all preferences and clear cache" in the SFAS 17 'File' menu, which has been known to fix many abnormalities.
Otherwise I cannot duplicate the behavior. Win 10, SFAS-17, build109.

I am using a folder in user/documents. Not a temp file. I am not doing any editing on the file (may nornalize). I can see why you save as a wave file. I used the reset all preferences and clear cache. Recorded again, same thing. If I go to the file menu, I can save as mp3. That was only one song. I don't if I have a 90 minute cassette recorded if it will separate the tracks when saving from the file menu.
