I am adding music to a video and what to change from one tune to another at some point in the video I have the 2 music files on the same track and pull then together does it mix/merge the music as it does with video? What I have done it put the 2 music files on seperate tracks and done a fade in and fade out and overlapped them.

The program is very flexible in that respect and I use both of those methods from time to time as well as automate the audio mixer.
Audio files can be edited in exactly the same way as video files if you wish and volumes adjusted individually for each clip. Crossover fades can be made as long or short as you wish. Volume can be adjusted on the track rather than with a fader if you wish by grabbing the handle visible horizontally about two thirds of the way up within the clip or you can add volume curves to adjust the mixer volume controls.
This may be too much information. I understand but the audio can be mixed in several ways if need be.
Just try experimenting. Save projects under different name if things go wrong.
