Cannot Edit in Timeline

Wally-Sutton wrote on 4/18/2019, 7:15 PM

Some time ago I was using 11 but had troubles with the voices matching the lips. Don't remember if I tried other versions, but I discovered that I could edit the timeline in 15. My computer locks up if I try to timeline edit in 16, 17, or 18 (must use task manager to close). I found a trick I could use in 15 to make the voices match the lips, so I have been using 15. Magix support did not help with the edit issue; they just gave up. Has anyone found and solved this problem ? It would be nice to use another of the later programs I paid for.

@Wally-Sutton

Hi

. . . . I was using 11 . . . in 15 . . . 16, 17, or 18 . . .

We need more specific information ie the full name of the program and the version number as found under Help, About.

Please read this topic before posting and come back with more information, clarification of the above, and more details on what the problem is you are having, including the file format you are importing to the timeline.

The versions are all of movie edit pro (thought "timeline" made it obvious).

If 15 can edit but 16, 17 & 18 cannot edit, what does the system matter ? What was changed from 15 to future versions that makes the future versions fail to edit in timeline ? For your statistics:

OS Name    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
Version    6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
System Type    x64-based PC
Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)    16.0 GB

I have no more information on the timeline edit problem, I try to edit (click on anything), the program locks, then I use task manager to exit.

@Wally-Sutton

I am pretty sure that John will respond to your latest post but there are one or two things that need to be emphasised, perhaps.

Section 1 of the forum etiquette and rules, to be found in the footer of any forum page, states that "Angry posts will be deleted".  Please treat ALL who are trying to help you with respect.

The versions are all of movie edit pro (thought "timeline" made it obvious).

No, various Magix video and graphics softwares include Timelines. As fellow-users (and moderators) we need to be sure of which program is being discussed in order to ensure we are offering appropriate answers.

John gave you very precise information about how to tell us the exact version number of the program you are using; you have omitted this information from your reply. He also asked about the file format of the footage you are importing; that is also still missing.

We do not ask for such information to create work for you, or to be in any way "awkward", but simply because, as fellow-users, we will try to help if we can but we cannot see your computer so are dependent upon you helping us!

Hi

Accurate information matters a great deal in providing you with a correct response ie:

  1. The MEP name number, many people abbreviate the MEP name number when posting which needs to be clarified eg 15 could also mean 2015, 16 - 2016 etc and there are significant differences between old MEP eg 15 and the newer MEP eg 2015

  2. The version number tells us which patch level the program is at - patches are a way of fixing issues and you may be missing patches which have fixed known issues.

  3. Your computer specs/hardware can determine whether certain functions work as expected or are not possible - we also need your graphics card make and model.

  4. The MediaInfo analysis of the video you are adding to the timeline determines whether you need to take certain actions which may fix the issue you are having.

Help us help you by providing accurate and complete information as requested, otherwise we are guessing what you mean.
