Catooh soundpools and PRO license

adorna50 wrote on 3/19/2012, 2:04 PM

I have Music Maker MX. I do not want to publish anything. I bought this for my own private use and enjoyment. That said, I want to purchase the sound pools I like from Cayooh; Movie Scores, Chillout and Ambient only. When I look to buy any of those it has the Audio Pro license and two types of sound files to choose from. My question is: Are they going to require me to pay for an Audio Pro license in order to download these sound files or is that something I CAN purchase only if I wish to? I don't want or need the Pro license and only want to download for private use and pay the $6.99 a piece.

Hi

Are these additional sound pools to the installed ones or are they missing completely?

If this is the download vwersion of MMM did you install the additional sound pools which are a seperate download?

I bought the boxed version of MMM MX with the soundpool Vol 17 included along with the +2000 sounds you had to download from Catooh. I have installed everything, nothing is missing. I want to purchase additional soundpools from Catooh, like Music Score Vol 4, Chillout Vol 3, Ambient Vol 8, etc. Most of these soundpools run around $6.99. However when I click on what I'm interested in it shows the price and to the left is the license that is Audio Pro for every single one. I don't want to pay 200 bucks for a license I don't need to get 50 bucks worth of additional soundpools. What I've been trying to find out is if that license is an option you can take if you want or is it required to buy their soundpools. I am using the program for my own enjoyment only and need only a private license. Go to Catooh and click on Sounds and FX at the top and then Soundpools. Choose Movie Score, Chillout, etc. and then pick anything in the list so it will take you to the buy screen with the info on price etc. and you'll see what I mean about the license only being Pro.

Hi

It looks like the licensing for Soundpools etc has been rationalised.

There have been a lot of queries in the forum about copyright issues and using soundpools and effects in created items using MMM.

It looks like Magix/Catooh have taken the decision one license type with limited restrictions on use in publicly broadcast/available creations.

I take it that woukld be a yes to my question. I do have to buy a Pro license even though I'm not using the software for commercial use for 200 bucks so I can buy some soundpools for 50 bucks. Yep. Looks like this program may not be what I was looking for afterall.

I thank you for your response. After around 7 emails back and forth between myself and Catooh I never got a straight answer and threw up my hands in disgust. I appreciate you took the time to look at the problem and answer. 5 stars!!!!

My statement below in incorrect. I did download one soundpool and installed it for $6.99. As far as I know there was no other charge. I will verify that with my credit card company tomorrow as they don't send you an email statement. However, it showed no other charge at the time of download. The soundpool comes with the Pro license if you choose to use the soundpool commercially and have purchased the license to do so. At least that is my guess.

Because I don't want anyone to be as confused about this issue as I was, I am posting the official response from Catooh. The confusion started from something I read on this forum concerning licenses that lead me to incorrect assumptions.

Thank you for your message.
The licenses you see in Catooh are the licenses you can purchase.
All your chosen Soundpools are "Audio Pro unlimited" because they are a bit older, but the price is just 5,99$ for an Audio Pro license.
There is only one newer Soundpool in your list (Chillout vol 5). As you can see the price for the Audio Pro license is 24,99$ for this Soundpool.
So if you will purchase all of these Soundpools, you only have to pay 5,99$ for each of them.

Only the newer Soundpools have different license types and license prices! The older ones are available for 5,99$!
