Codecs In MEP 2015

I  recently purchased and  installed MEP 2015. I noticed that  when I try to  convert  to my  vhs  tapes  I  am only  given the  option of using  the  MXV format.  This  file  is  tto large  for  me to  use  for  the  projects  I am  working on. I  see  that  the  MPEG formats and  form  a  third  party vendor  that wants  to  charge  me. How   do I   turn on  the  basic MPEG format that  used  to  be  available  in the  earlier versions?

I also  noticed  that  those format are  missing on  my MEP 2014 also. I  do not  like  when  you  change  the  rules.

Hi

Which version of MEP are you using Basic, Plus or Premium ?

If you have the Basic version then there are several codecs which must be purchased, the licence fees are included in the Plus and Premium versions.

. . . . form  a  third  party vendor  that wants  to  charge  me . . . .

If that is Catooh then it is part of Magix and is the main source for templates, codecs etc for Magix programs.

. . . . This  file  is  to large  for  me to  use  for  the  projects  I am  working on . . . .

In what way are they too large?

Are you restricted on free hard drive space?

John,

I  am  using   MEP 2015 Premium, the  third  party  software  is on the  one that   is  offered  from  Main  Concept.  I  have  attempted to  activate the  basic MPEG by inserting  old  mp4 videos so that  it  will  do it  automatically. I  am  trying  to  covert  old vhs  tapes; with basic   mpg feature. It  would  typically  be about  2 - 4 GB per tape dependign  on  time  on the  tape ,could be   burned  onto  a DVD.  With the  MXV format they  are  some  that  6 - 9 gb

Hi

. . . . With the  MXV format they  are  some  that  6 - 9 gb . . .

That is not a problem - you can capture to this format, edit them if required in MEP,  then when you burn the DVD using MEP 2015, the files will be encoded and compressed to the correct DVD format files (VOBs).

. . . . . basic MPEG by inserting  old  mp4 videos . . . . .

These are two different file formats, inserting mp4's should not ask to activatempg codecs.

I have inserted mpg files into MEP 2015 Premium successfully, and have not been asked to activate the codec

. . . . MEP 2015 Premium, the  third  party  software  is on the  one that is  offered  from  Main  Concept . . . .

You should not need this if your computer has an Intel i5 or i7 processor and you are using the integrated graphics chip, this will use the Intel codecs which are included.
