collage thumbnails

rdr1jlr3 wrote on 5/1/2017, 10:02 AM

Some of my collages do not exhibit a thumbnail in storyboard mode ( just black image) - but other collages have a "composite-thumbnail" - which is much more useful when editing the video. How do I get a composite thumbnail for the ones that are missing? Did it get saved somewhere that is no longer linked to my project??

Hi,

Why are you using Storyboard mode for this? You should be doing it on the timeline, no?

Hi

. . . . collages do not exhibit a thumbnail in storyboard mode ( just black image) . . . .

Are these one or more of the preset collages, if so which one(s) or one you have created ?

Does the first image of the collage start with a fade in?

Which version number of MEP are you using - see under Help, About. . . .

Most of my collages DO show a composite thumbnail ( which gives some indication as to what photos are included in the collage) in storyboard mode and also in scene overview mode. I find this very useful for rearranging photos and collages - to edit the order of things. Much easier to move things around in these 2 modes versus in timeline mode (at least for me!). I think I lost the composite thumbnails because I started my project in MEP 15 and then went to MEP2017. Anything newly created has a thumbnail.Just wondered if there is a way to get thumbnails back without redoing the collage.

Interesting, thanks for letting me know. I rarely use Storyboard mode and have never used it with a collage, so I wouldn't know.

Try this - MEP must be closed -:

Using Windows Explorer, move to a temporary folder, or send to the Recycle bin, any files with .H0 or .HDP file extensions located in the following folders

  1. the folder where the project is saved

  2. the folder that contains any video files that are in the collage

If you cannot see the file extensions you need to turn this on in Windows Explorer.

Start MEP and load the project - all the preview files should be recreated.
