Color leaks

Kami_1 wrote on 8/26/2017, 8:57 PM

Hi. As you can see in the screenshot, I'm getting color leaks. The screenshot is from MEP not the export, where the color leaking is more apparent. If I lessen the green enough not to see it, then the overall color becomes too red. Adjusting the red and blue causes the green to appear. Lowering the saturation doesn't help (since I don't want to lose all the color). I realize this could be the fault of the camcorder, but any possible suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Kami

Is the video the same when you play it in Windows Media player or VLC?

If so, do you have another video clip with the same scene that is OK, if so then try using the Shot Match video effect to adjust the colours it does work well in some extreme circumstances as you can see here, however occassionally it gives very strange results.

Shotmatch will also work with still images.

Hi John,

The effect is much less with Media Player than with Power DVD unless I adjust the settings in Media Player for more contrast. Somewhat less with AVS. I don't have VLC. The problem occurs when there are blues and greens

I tried using Shot Match, but found it confusing. I don't know what I'd try to match it with, as scenes with good color have little or no blue.

How are you adjusting the colour - with the colour wheel or the sliders? The problem with the wheel is that it always increases the overall level ie it is additive and I presume the effect you are seeing is that the green level is clipping. The sliders on the other hand can reduce, or add. Lowering the contrast slightly might help also.
