Computer ID

Steven-May wrote on 1/17/2021, 6:45 AM

Hi, am trying to negotiate the labyrinthine process of re-activating Acid Music Studio v8. After entering the serial no. it demands I enter the "computerid", but doesn't say what and where this is. I've tried, honestly, to identify what it might be, including the HD model and serial nos., but with no luck. The computer (32-bit) is offline, using Win XP Pro, SP3

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

@Steven-May

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

The Computer ID is generated automatically by the online activation and registration process. The fact that your computer is offline clearly makes that impossible. Is there an option within the registration screen for activation via another computer, which would normally generate a file on your offline computer which you would transfer to your online computer and complete the activation process? I believe that would generate a file which you would then need to transfer to your offline machine and thus complete the process.

One additional complication for you could prove to be your OS, which is clearly now out of support and may not fully support the app.

Thankyou for your welcome and your quick reply. There is an option for activation via another computer, but I logged on to my Magix a/c, saw the option to activate a previously registered product and never got beyond the demand for the computer ID (by that method, I still don't know how anyone is supposed to know this ID)

Anyway I've tried the activation via another computer method, jumped through all the hoops seemingly successfully and was informed that an email with the activation code has been *automatically* sent to my email address. After over an hour, I have received nothing

Incidentally, the "remote" registration method did show a/the computer ID and so I tried copying/pasting into the "activate a previously registered product" while logged into my Magix a/c - that wasn;t accepted

It was functioning well on XP Pro (and none of the hardware has since changed). If it worked OK, I assume that it would also support the registration process.

As a casual and occasional user, it shoudn't be this complicated and I haven't been able to see a contact email for Magix technical support. - is there one?

Thanks again for you reply
