. . . . can the movie edit pro 2021 convert MOV files into MP4 files within the program? . . . .
Whether MEP 2021 can import MOV files depends on the codecs used to encode the MOV file, if they are AVC/h.264 encoded yes, if they are JPEG encoded only of you install Quicktime.
To find out which encoding format you have use MediaInfo analysis to determine the encoder used -
If you see the following:
Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
They will import without Quicktime
However
Format : JPEG
Codec ID : jpeg
Requires Quicktime installed, you may also see a performance hit on playback within the program and longer export times.
Depends what you're comfortable with, John CB. I would much rather use MEP to convert a file than HB, which I hardly use and choke when I see all the unfamiliar options.
For a slightly more sophisticated conversion I use VidCoder (vidcoder.net), which uses the Handbrake engine but most of the hard work of the settings is done by using presets; tweaking them is easy (it must be if I can do it).
Reread the OP's question. He should come back and tell us exactly what he is expecting. I suspect that he doesn't understand how video editing works, has mov files to be edited and wants to know if he can export to MP4. Or, he simply wants to convert an MOV to MP4. It would be good to know.
Exporting a very long unchanged mov file to MP4 using MEP could take a long time (especially on my old computer), so if that is all he wants, he should use something else, like Handbrake, AVP from Pazera or VidCoder. It's good to have choices.
I am now an expert on Handbrake having used it once.😁 It is daunting so I used a preset and it worked.
Still waiting for the OP to come back and tell us what he really wants.
