Creating proxy

Hello

I am a new user of Movie edit pro. It has been working fine up to now but now it is really struggling to playback footage even after creating proxy, it also seems to a take a huge amount of time to create the proxies. I have about 20 videos that I want to trim down into few second clips to create a film only a few minutes long but seems to take forever so I also wanted to know if you can convert just the clips rather than converting a whole video. Its quite a frustrating process the other thing is that after exporting a film it plays ok in windows media player but not on Movie edit. I am using a gopro which i realise are big files but dont understand why its suddenly started to struggle when it was fine to start with.

regards

Nik

Hi

Not enough information to go on however it looks like you have 2 seperate issues:

. . . . why its suddenly started to struggle when it was fine to start with . . . .

  1.  What is your computer specification, Windows version and is it 32 or 64 bit and what version of MEP are you using?

. . . . I also wanted to know if you can convert just the clips rather than converting a whole video . . .

  2.  The technique you are using is more difficult than is necessary for long videos.

Read the section of the installed pdf manual about Loading parts of movie files - there you will find a description of how to use the Preview monitor, setting In / Out points while previewing and then adding the marked section to the timeline.

Hi Nik

Assuming the GoPro video is HD then your computer will struggle because it is below the minimum required specification for handling HD video see here.
