Crossfades

I'm a long, long, long time user of various versions of Video Deluxe and MEP. I haven't used MEP for a while but last month I purchased Movie Edit Pro Plus. Getting back into the swing of things I have a question that I've wonder about for the past several versions and I can't find the answer in the pdf manual.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two transitions: Crossfade and Flexible Crossfade.

Thanks,

david

Hi

As you can see from the images below the difference between a Crossfade and a Flexible crossfade are in the available options for setting the cross fade - you get to these by clicking the transition icon again after setting the type of Crossfade.

Standard crossfade - has one option - setting the transition length

Flexible crossfade has 2 options setting the transition length and a settings option

The Settings option opens this dialog which allows you to change the behaviour of the crossfade

Hi John.

Is there a way to control de timing of the cross fade?

like adding keyframes to it?

I was trying to do a karaoke effect (really for kids learning another language)

I saw this post, but I need the whole phrase to show up, and change colours sync with lyrics.

What I did was 2 tracks for lyrics (one grayed out, other yellow) and the swipe effect. The only problem is that transition is linear, no way to control progress, so it gets out of sync.

@SullyPanda76us

Use a chromakey alpha mask between the 2 title tracks and keyframe it under Effects, View/Animation, Size/Position to move from left to right to expose the track with the yellow. I made the mask 200% to cover the entire text at the beginning, but a different shape mask would do.
