default settings and moving cursor

Movie Studio 2022 Platinum V.21.0.2.138. I want to know how to change the default font and font size for titles. Also, when using the time window in the upper left hand corner to move the cursor to a specific spot, it goes to :29 instead of :00. Then each time I enter a zero, it goes back one second. Is there a different way I should using a "Go to" function?

@art-l Hi,

to save the default, click the T at the top of the timeline to add text, use the little downward arrow at the top of the control window - Save as Title Template, save as Title & let it overnight the one there.

So if I want to move the cursor [playback marker?] to15 seconds, for example, from 08:15, I enter 15 in the seconds box, but then cursor moves to 15:29 rather than 15:00. It doesn't do this all the time but often enough to be very annoying. Found the "Save as title template," thank you.

Other enterable time boxes behave in the same weird way eg length of still images: type in the seconds and frame number increases by 1. I agree, most annoying. Just another Magix quirk that I really should put in a bug report about! 😂

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@art-l Hi, i deleted part of my last comment because it's hard to describe, for me anyway 😂, the time box at the top is hrs:mins:secs:frames, so it will depend on the frame rate of your project, if your project is 30fps & you type 00:00:00:30 it will auto to 00:00:01:00 because 30frames = 1 second.

You'll have to experiment to see what 00:00:00:30 &/or 00:00:00:29 does on a 29.97fps project, but it might be easier just to set your project at a full 30fps, then you can work in whole numbers instead of 29.97fps.

so instead of 00:00:15:00, then 00:00:14:30

Hi

An alternative method to move quickly through the timeline, especially if you repeatedly jump to specific points in the timeline is to use Markers - more information on these is in the manual under Help.
