The latest software update has introduced a new bug: the File drop-down menu disappears (top left) and the only way is to close the program and start up again. Very inconvenient.
Have now removed all previous programs and reinstalled. The install halts at the last Update Notifier stage with a Remove or Cancel box. Have had to choose Cancel - will this stop any Updates being announced?
Since the full reinstall this issue has recurred. On opening a file, the top left menu dropdown is the FRG icon in red/black (left of File menu), with Restore etc. as options. Then, after carrying out some operations, the FRG icon disappears and File shifts to the left - then it too disappears, so that the leftmost dropdown menu is Edit. Impossible to get File menu back without shutting down and restarting. (Have now spent about 6 hours!)
Ok but I cleaned out all versions of SF I had inc Audio Studio 12, 14 and Restorer. And SF Pro 14. No other s/w has ever needed to be uninstalled by a third party program. Further, this issue has never occurred with any previous version of SF - only build 130. I think we're grasping at straws here. Granted, it's a hard issue to replicate. It happens early in sessions when loading and unloading a file and performing some editing operating eg Ctrl C and Ctrl V. I don't think any registry cleanup would cure/resolve a single dropdown menu disappearing - that is undoubtedly an internal software problem. I suppose only eventually when other users report the same issue will it be addressed. I'm really trying to stay loyal to SF - but it's hard. Very.
I've been noticing this File Menu disappearing issue for a while now. I try to keep an eye on it to see when it actually disappears. It is kind of annoying though. I was going to submit a ticket... but looks like this is a known issue.... Glad I'm not the only one... Lol
Yes, the developers are aware and (allegedly) working on a fix.. which as I recall started with the next-to-last build of Sound Forge Pro-14. which btw also introduced the multi-instance default feature .. related?? I could live without the multi-instance and most folks prefer the single-instance anyway.
A work-around is to disable the "Open default workspace on start up" (which normally reopens the last file that was on the timeline when SF was exited). The setting is at the top of "Options> Preferences> General" list.
Hopefully, Magix's deep thinkers will resolve this serious annoyance with the next build of Sound Forge Pro-15. I do not know if there will be an update to fix SFP-14 when the issue is resolved. I would hope so,
