DLL Error (mx_read_kinetictype_x64.dll)

LuckyCharms wrote on 9/24/2021, 7:37 PM

I recently updated Movie Edit, but received multiple errors that said the program could not write to the backup file during the autosaves. Then it crashed. This is the log that came from it. (System and program info in signature).

@LuckyCharms

Hi

. . . . Error in module "mx_read_kinetictype_x64.dll"  . . . .

This is a new error to me and to users in the German forum where there are 2 topics on the same issue with no solution.

There are several possibilities as to what the issue is

. . . . received multiple errors that said the program could not write to the backup file during the autosaves . . .

  1. This would suggest that something is blocking the program from writing to the location of the project file, the most likely offender in this case would be your Antivirus Real time/Folder protection/Ransomware feature blocking access to the folder.

Try turning off the above AV features and run MEP again with the same project and see if it crashes. If not add an exception to the above feature(s) to not scan the project folders.

  2. Other items to try:

    a) Reset the program to its default settings - File, Settings, Reset . . . . . - note this will remove any custom folder settings.

    b) If the project file(s) are on an external USB drive:

In Windows. Device Manager check that the USB hubs are set to never turn off/sleep.

Try copying the project to the Documents/Magix folder on your C: drive and open from there.

I moved the files into the Documents/Magix folder and reset everything to default program settings. I also saw that Bridge, which I used for metahuman work with iClone was trying to run with Movie Edit. I'm not sure why. So I uninstalled it.

Before that I got the same error as led to this post initially. Then things were going okay until I got another hang and this error:

Error in module "videodeluxe.exe" and lists the load address (start and end). Then it gives another access violation with the same 0xc0000005 listed. It then offers three options: save selected moves as...; continue program; or close program - but neither button works.

I am going to uninstall the program and try a clean install.

Hi

To get a clean install you need to do more than un-install/re-install as there are files, folders and settings in the registry that are left behind - the uninstaller knows nothing about these as they are created on first run of the program.

The use of Revo Uninstaller is recommended for this purpose. Launch Revo and then start the uninstallation from within Revo, once the unistall is complete Revo will ask to scan for left over remnants do this and delete all the Movie Edit Pro items it finds, then re-install Movie Edit pro.
