Do this with KB, not mouse?

I find while editing that keystrokes are mostly much faster than using the mouse. But achieving this for some operations is elusive. For example, one thing I do frequently is to set the blue range over the currently selected track 1 object (usually so that I can then go to full screen and loop round it a couple of tmes). However I've still not found a way of achieving that with the keyboard alone. Instead I have to:

1. Place the time marker manually at the start of the object
2. Press 'i'
3. Place the time marker manually at the end of the object
4. Press o

I can achieve this reliably (regardless of what other objects lie in lower tracks, or where the time marker is) providing the selected object has no empty space on its right, as follows:

1. Shift+y
2. Shift+x
3. i
4. Shift+x
5. o

But that fails if the selected object does have empty space on its right.

Anyone with any solution please?
