Download/Installation

Mick-Sargent wrote on 3/13/2022, 9:35 PM

G'day,

I am trying to put Movie Edit Pro,on my new Asus Tuff 15..it keeps telling me an Error occurred during file transfer, and to restart installer application.

It then goes on to tell me the setup file is corrupted, and to try downloading again.

I have tried doing both restarting the installer, and re-downloading another two times.

The same messages appear.

I also have the program previously installed on another Asus Tuff 15,but used in a different location.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thankyou,

Mick

This looks like an internet connectivity issue.

What is your internet speed and ping time 5ms according to https://speedtest.net

My internet is NBN FTTN 50mb/s (ping time 5ms) I have never had the issue you have described with the installation of any Magic product.

Can you retry, but this time temporarily disable your antivirus software?

If you are on a WIFI connection, can you try with a wired (ethernet) connection?

G'day Promidi

My internet is Starlink, currently on 98Mbps,but ping is 316ms.

Yes will try with antivirus disabled, and will also have to get the ethernet cable from my other place.

Thanks for your help, will give it a go!

There is obviously something wrong at the Magix end. Another similar topic that's active:

https://www.magix.info/us/forum/can-t-install-movie-studio-2022-platinum--1295995/#ca1764233

Historical success is not indicative of a new problem.

It doesn't matter what speed an internet connection is (within reason), the file will just take longer to download. The fact that it won't install is a different issue, methinks.

I'd get onto Support and tell them.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Speed is fine. However, that ping time is a little on the high side...... is that using a local server? (like your ISP's) . Or have you tried different servers - like Telstra's?

Hi.

Latency, measured by ping times, is an indication of how long it takes for your system to send data to another computer and to receive its response. Latency is influenced by how far the data must travel—it takes much longer to access a webpage on a server that is halfway around the world than one that is on a server next door. Longer communication routes, where the data must pass through many switches and routers, increases latency as well. You may also not get the the most direct route between servers or get to use the fastest connections between servers.

Latency can be time dependent. Try at a different time of day when less people locally are using the services.

If you are in a building with shared connections, that too can cause problems.

Do get in contact with Magix. They may be able to supply a different download address.

Ray.

I have done this in the past when the web installer was really slow due to the route to Magix hosting server. Magix support did give me a direct link to the full installer at that time.

It's worth a shot.

I had that problem and it turns out I was missing a windows update that had been discontinued for windows 7. I finally found a bootleg site that still had these updates.
