DVD burning menu flickering

Ralph_S wrote on 5/26/2011, 8:11 PM

When burning a DVD, I have selected a template ("HD_ChildrenParty_bgani.m2v") which has a resolution of 1920x1080 pixel, and 25 FPS. I have movies in this project that have resolution of 1280x720 pixel, and 30 FPS. The movies on the DVD play fine, and look good, but the movie "previews" that appear on the DVD menu flicker significantly and is very annoying. I assume that this is due to the differences between resolution and FSP of the menu and movies.(?) If so, is there anyway that I can change the resolution of the menu template to match the movies on the DVD?

I haven’t noticed that before... Does this happen all the time or have you just noticed it in this project?

If it were me, I would probably make each video the same ratio and frame rate. In this case 1280x720 @ 25fps

To do this, I would load each in individually, and then export them again with those settings. It shouldn’t really be necessary, but I couldn’t begin to explain what is causing the behaviour you are experiencing.

It seems to happen all the time where the menu templates are a different resolution than the videos. The program even give a warning about "flickering" due to the difference in resolution. It is not clear to me how I export just the menu template, and then use it again to burn the DVD. Any suggestions.

I would recommend that you adjust your videos ratios to the templet size if possible or at least have all your videos at the same ratio and resolution.

I appreciate your time. All of my video are the same ratio and resolution. The problem is that the video in the "Burning Template" that produces the DVD menus is a different resolution. I am stuck about how to export the template to adjust the video AND still have all the functionality of the menus of the template.

I do not believe there is a way to export out just the template to be a certain ratio while maintaining its functionality.

If I am not mistaken, the templates are based on full screen size for their ratio (4:3, 16:9). That also should not have a bearing on the burn menu flicker.

As a precaution, can you make sure you have the latest firmware for your burner - You may need to contact the DVD burner manufacture to obtain a download for any firmware. In addition, go to the Magix support page and download the latest Burn Routines after updating your firmware.

Perhaps this flicker is a result of a driver mismatch.
