I wonder if anyone (Terry?) can help me on this DVD menu question please? I'm a complete newcomer to DVD menus (I hate the things myself), but the client has asked for one so I'm attempting to create one. Context details follow if they are relevant, but the issue is that in the disc menuing preview mode in VPX, and on my only DVD player, the selected button is not highlighted, but is in fact "blacklighted" (please see the attached). What I hoped would happen was that some kind of border would appear around the highlighted icon rather than it being obliterated with black - is there any way I can control this please, or is it an endemic shortcoming of either the ancient DVD standard itself or indeed Magix's implementation of it?
Context:
Win 10 Home 64 bit
VPX 15.0.5.211 (UDP3) UG Code 8424 KA2
Project: master material 4x 1080p50 HD sources, plus separate audio master, multi-cam'ed into single movie DVD format.
Animated HD DVD menu 3 page menu (12, 12, 4 chapters) using video and sound clip from movie as animated b'ground.
An additional unconnected observation: I first attempted to make this DVD menu with the track layout "as was" after the successful multi-cam work - conventional Track 1 & 2 being output, with 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10 being the four cameras, and 11 was the separate audio master. For various reasons I used Track 1 as output video, and 11 (rather than 2) as output audio. I noted that when I was selecting my clip of the movie as the animated background (with audio), the movie output showing was indeed Tk 1. BUT when the finished menu was previewed in VPX, and the final DVD .iso played in VLC or my external DVD player, Tk 9 was used as menu background video, not Tk 1! Tk 9's video was of course still muted off, but was used nonetheless. Go figure!
Only by physically deleting Tks 3 to 10 from the project did the wanted chunk of Tk 1 appear behind the chapter icons.
