The Reset option in @AAProds image above shows you the location is the top menu bar of the program - select Window, Window arrangement, to see the Reset option.
Thank you JEB. Window Arr.options show no change, settings are at default.Opening screen shows upper tool bar right top, icons for New Messages-Catooh-Edit Pro-Burn and Finish Menu. Buttons for Record-Edit-Burn not shown, hence unable to open Edit Screen. Hope this info of use. Regards Langford.
I think a print screen shot would possibly help us to see what is actually wrong.
It sound as if you need to drag and resize each internal box of MEP smaller to see if something has got stuck behind something else and then resize them manually.
Hi AA. Scale&Layout is 100%. This is new problem,MEP has been problem free since installation Program Settings are Default. I think my post to JEB on 21-06 Gives a better description of the problem.
Hi. Thank you for your post, the double repeat is an error on my part.I am not familiar with the sending of screen shots and would appreciate your assistance with the process.
Thank you AA. Will give this a try. Assuming you find the screenshot, can you advise where to find the buttons for Record -Edit and Burn. The screen shown is the "opening screen ".My understanding is with my settings at default, the opening screen should be Record and buttons should be shown in the menu bar,top right for Record -Edit and Burn. This has been case with my past use of this prog.
Based on your supplied screenshot, which is of the Timeline view, (this view is the preference for most people who use this software since it gives the "best" view of ALL the components of your project):
Record is the Red button below the program (video) screen.
Burn is the icon, top right hand corner, which looks rather like a number of concentric discs, immediately to the right of the highlighted (in blue) symbol for the Edit screen..
Edit is any change that you choose to make to your video file once it is placed on the timeline.

Hi Jeff. Thank you for your post. I have used MEP on many projects over the past years without any problems. On my screen shot I chose not to show the project images. I do not have a problem with any of the work spaces,my problem is I cannot find the Edit Workspace I am familiar with. The attached image is from Magix Academy textbook is the screen I am looking as it contains the three button Menu bar and Tool bar.If I can load this I will be ok.
There's something odd going on here. Your screenshot is of MEP 2016, whereas it looks like those images from the book are from an earlier version, which did have the 3 rectangular buttons across the top. I think you are trying to find buttons which were on your old version but not on your current version. Have you only just started using MEP 2016?
In any case, for the version you have installed now (MEP 2016), the old top "Record" button has been replaced by the red button at the bottom-right of the Preview monitor. If you click on it, you'll find the same options pop up, that is the various ways of recording video.
As far as the Edit button goes, you are in Edit mode now; Edit mode is selected by the diagonal tape icon with the Play marker slashed through it.
For the Burn section, the disc-shaped icon next to the Edit icon, top right, takes you to the Burn dialogue.
So, as I said before, you are all set to go; you are in Edit mode now. Edit away! 👍
I've just done a sleuth and yes, you're suddenly using a version that is probably 5 years later than that manual. That manual is probably for MEP 16 (circa 2010), whereas you are using MEP 2016.
This is the version from that manual:
This is the version you currently have installed:
The big buttons at top right have well and truly gone.
One other question: do you use Storyboard mode or Timeline mode for your editing? To change modes, click the buttons middle-right of the workspace. I've annotated them on the image above.
Hi AA Thanks for your response. My Edit procedure is to start in Storyboard, review each clip and thin out any poor or unwanted material. I then look at exposure quality and make any inhancements.I may also rearrange some of the clips to aid continuity. I then switch to Timeline to make any detailed changes to video and audio tracks I may add fades or other features together additional audio and titles. This has always worked for me in the past using first MEP 13 plus and now 16plus.I do not have a problem using the tools The problem is something has changed since my last use and I need to find the cause.
I would suggest you read the manual of the newer design of MEP 2016 available under Help to familiarise your self with the layout, operation and changed locations of the programs features .
There have been 2 major changes to the program interface since MEP 16 Plus which was released in 2010. The features that you are referring to are still there, just not as you know them.
The newest version has also had some changes to the interface, however they are not such a large step from MEP 2016 as it was from MEP16 Plus.
