Editing Video and Synching - Freezing

paulf2 wrote on 10/9/2014, 9:42 AM

When I upload more than one video clip with audio.  The video freezes when I try to edit.  I have converted my clips to wmv to make them smaller, they are now approx. 200MB each.  They were 2.5GB AVI files.  Also I synch videos using the waveforms on the audio but then they seem to unsynch by themselves for no reason.  In other words, the waveforms match perfectly but the video is out of synch.  Is there a preferred video format for this product that will stop this happening?  It seems as though the software just cannot handle the size of files.  Very frustrating!  Have a decent Toshiba latop that doesnt normally stop me from doing this.

Hi

We need your full laptop specification, the resolution of the video files you are using and the version of MEP to give you a meaningful answer.

Thanks for the reply.  The 2.5GB AVI files are 640 x 480 at 29 frames per second.  I converted them to wmv to try it again.  They are 640 x 480, 30 fps 230mb.  Then I converted the originals again to try them as a mp4 file, 320 x 240, 24 fps 23mb.  There are 3 video clips of the same scene with a seperate audio file as well.  I am trying to synch them but I cant get past the first synch audio/video without the video freezing.  I have checked the original videos and the recording looks fine all the way through.  I have done the same thing in the past but using video from a flip camera and a HD smart phone and once I convert the files to wmv or mp4 I can work with them without any massive problems.  In the past the videos have buffered and skipped a bit but never just froze completely.

I am using a Toshiba L655 - 177

Windows® 7

Intel® Core™ i3-370M Processor
Hard disk 500 GB
4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB, DDR3 RAM (1,066 MHz)
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD

and Magix Movie Edit Pro 17.

Thanks
