Does anyone know how I can show a text or whats app style conversation on the movie. The video shows a girl readingher phone and I want what she is texting and the reply to appear large on the screen as it would on her phone so the viewer can see the text conversation. I cant find a way of doing this. Any ideas ?
Possibly the easiest way I can think of doing that would be to use a screen recording app on the phone to record the text being sent and then importing the footage into MEP and placing it on the screen as a pip.

Are you looking for an 'over the shoulder' or first person view of the phone, or just the messages to be displayed with no phone/person visible?

Not over the shoulder, the text to appear almost as a title large on the screen but in the style of text or whats app. Boxes with a coloured background different colour for the sent and received message.

The boxes, ie round cornered rectangles, can be created in an image editor of your choice and saved as a png with transparent background.
The background image, text background image and message text pairs would have to be stacked as shown below on the timeline, each pair of message objects repositioned and resized as required.
This method is very time consuming and to some extent can be speeded up by copy and pasting the first message object pair, repositioning/resizing and changing the text.

What are you starting with and what do you need?
If just text, then just type it and move it where you want. If you want a cell phone, boxes with a kind of arrow thingy on them like for WhatsApp at the upper left and right, then you have to make those yourself or procure them from somewhere.
Look at the speech bubbles under Templates, Image objects, Present and Text - something like those?
