Eliminate Magix popup ad

Charles-Piper wrote on 10/1/2019, 6:05 PM

I evaluated Magix software a long time ago, perhaps 3 years ago. I continue to get popup ads for Magix products. How do I delete or uninstall whatever script or app or whatever to get rid of these annoying popups? My uninstall efforts to date suggest the app or script is under some not-obvious directory and/or filename.

Hi

You can uninstall the program in the Windows Add or remove programs - the program name will be either Magix Network Sync or Magix Connect.

Or, possibly, Connect. This was the one that was there a couple of years ago.

No need to uninstall.

There is another method. It may be for older versions. Mine is 2016.

From the desktop use <control-alt-delete>, pick <Task Manager>, under the tab <Process> find (something like, I don't see it any more because I removed it) <Updater...>, right click <properties>. In this version it should say <QMxNetworkSync.exe>. Click <End Task>. Close the <Task Manager>.

Open <Windows Explorer>, got <C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAGIX Services\Update Notifier>, and delete <QMxNetworkSync.exe>, reboot the computer.

In my version, I get no more ads. When I run <MAGIX Movie Maker> so far it has not complained.

I hope not. Because if it does I will, as others have indicated on this Forum, Uninstall it. No flame war intended. Simple dissatisfaction with MAGIX.

Hope this helps a few of annoyed customers.
