email re: NewBlue Stabilizer

Greetings,

This morning I received an email from NewBlue saying they hadn't heard from me for a while (odd, I thought) and "As a token of our appreciation, please enjoy a free copy of our Stabilizer post-production plugin.* Download Stabilizer for Windows or Mac and use the following serial number:"

I'm just wondering if anyone's used it and is it worthwhile? I suppose if it's free then that makes it worthwhile but I think you know what I mean.

I'm always a little sceptical about offers of free stuff especially when it would normally cost (apparently) £84 buying direct.

Hi Andy.

No idea except it says it's worth £87 on the website. Also it needs a graphics card with 4GB of vram for HD content? That's very demanding processing.. Also doesn't mention compatibility with MEP but does mention Vegas.

I got a free offer for a Boris Effects plugin last year worth £490 with a lifetime user license and it works fine.

I occasionally get emails from both NB and Prodad, may be once or twice a year with an offer.

My philosophy is - does the existing feature(s) in the program work satisfactorily for me - if yes, then I don't need another one.

As both the Vegas and Mercalli stabilisations work fine for me, though I do find the Vegas one is some what aggressive when it comes to the amount of zoom applied, like @CubeAce I have no idea.

I am a salesman/advertisers nightmare to talk to 😈😂

Thanks for the replies gents. Curiosity did get the better of me and I downloaded it, installed it, activated it and it doesn't work with MEP 21!!

I've scanned for plugins with MEP, I've Windows searched for a vsx, as all the other NewBlue effects seem to have one, I've searched for NewBlue Stabilizer and can only find an uninstaller. I've even had two strong cups of tea!

Newblue says it's compatible with Magix Vegas Pro 10+ and Vegas Movie Studio and is to be found in effects / essentials but it's not there after rebooting and a piece of toast. I've emailed their support but don't really expect an answer that's to my liking.

So for the time being, unless I've missed something, I'll leave it at that.

It is a Moose, a very important tool used for testing car stability - look up Moose test.

Being a sucker for punishment, I tried installing that NewBlue stabiliser. Fail. Do companies deliberately try to annoy us by giving us things that don't work??

Into the bargain, I now have a nice Download arrow in Effects for all the Newblue filters that are already installed. 😡

I replied to the NewBlue email asking them to please continue offering me complimentary free plugins but could they offer ones that are compatible with MEP 2021 - it's worth a try.

They replied "Once again I do apologize for the inconvenience Andrew. Aside from Stabilizer my understanding is that all of our other effects work well in Movie Edit Pro"

I'm still trying to work out the logic of that, especially as NewBlue offer Stabilizer as both a standalone purchase and part of the Essentials 5 Ulitmate package. This implies that should I decide to spend £263 on the Ultimate package, only 75% of what I buy will be of any use to me - and that may be questionable as, according to their website, that 75% is comapatible with Magix Vegas Pro 10+, Vegas Movie Studio, and Magix Video Pro X; no mention of Movie Edit Pro.

C’est la vie I suppose.
