Error in opening old ACID files in ACID PRO 10.0

David-Ferrell wrote on 3/5/2021, 8:37 AM

I recently updated my Acid Pro 9.0 software by purchasing and downloading Acid Pro 10.0. The newer software version downloaded seamlessly, and the software appears to work correctly when preparing a new .acd file. HOWEVER, I have a great many .acd files that were recorded 1-3 years ago with Acid Pro 9.0., an error is encountered, the file is not opened and instead a small window appears reading as follows: "The following file could not be found in the specified location: C//Users/Dave/Documents/ACID.../I Know Of Them Track 10- 1.wav" But I am not trying to open a .wav file. In the course of opening the selected .acd file, is it necessary to open .wav files? I can understand this, but there is no such folder on my C: drive, and I have not made any changes to my file organization since making the original .acd recording. Please help!

Hi, would you be so kind as to explain how you are opening the file? i.e. are you clicking on the file icon, are you opening it with AP10 open and using the open command...? AP10 is a bit .....well let's just say it needs a good deal of improvement.

Thanks for your comment! I have tried to open files in two ways: (1) simply accessing the file itself in the folder in which it is stored and selecting it, and (2) first opening AP10 and then using the "Open File" function. Both ways yield the same result, as listed above. Thanks for your help on this matter! DLF

Well, those were the two options I was thinking of. Trying to open the file through the icon in the folder has been an issue even with a current version however the 'Open File' option was the 'fix'. As I said there are 'issues' with AP10. Until this bug is fixed , sadly, you may have to keep your AP9 installed on your computer to open the older files.. One last thought and this may be a shot in the dark. Try opening AP10 in the 'Run as Administrator' mode and then try the 'Open File' approach. Sorry I couldn't be of any help, Cheers MS.
