error message in SONGMAKER

malakiymelek wrote on 3/19/2012, 3:42 PM

Today I THOUGHT I would try the SONGMAKER.
Every time I try to generate even the simplest song I get the following
error for every object file it tries to load. (50 times for a simple song):

The file format of
C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\MovieScore Vol.8
\Bass\Matrix 1.wav cannot be read by MAGIX Music Maker.

Please be sure that the affected drive is not full or write protected.

If you do not have read or write access to this path,
please contact the administrator.

I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR!!!

Does this program [MAGIX Music Maker MX (with version 18 upgrade installed)]
even work?  I am NOT getting my money's worth.
I am running a Toshiba Satelite Laptop with 3GIG RAM and 3.5GIG HD.
OS = Windows 7 64bit (Home Premium).

Hi

Was the MX upgrade the download version and have you installed the additional sound loops etc?

You may think you are the administrator in Windows 7 but the User Account Control (UAC) still stops you depending on what you are trying to do.  The only way to be sure it is not a permissions problem is to turn off the UAC and then try SongMaker again.

If it still does not work then turn UAC back on, the fault is elsewhere, if it does then there is a permissions problem with the folders where the sound objects are stored.

The UAC indicates I AM the Admini8strator (and only user).  MMMX refuses to find object files that are clearly present in the default installed directories.  This problem also occurs when loading a saved arrangement for many (not all) objects.  So far, I have spent over 100 nhours trying to accomplish something with MMMX but cannot retrieve all my hours of work.  The only thing I have been able to do is export a project to WAV/MP3, but the mix does not sound the same, and I cannot remix the arrangement, for many of the objects refuse to be located.

Hi

Try this suggestion from nihon94 here

http://www.magix.info/us/file-has-been-deleted-or-moved-what-to-do.online-training.145789.html

Have a look through the many tutorials in that section of the forum, there may be some problems you come across which have already been solved.

I found the solution myself.  For those who need to know:

When starting MMMX, T

RIGHT CLICK on the descktop icon. Select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

Both Music Maker and Songmaker work as they are supposed to.

For  JB622:

You might try the following:

Instead of selectin RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR each time you open MMMX,

right click on the desktop icon, select properties, select compatability.

At the bottom you will see "Privilege Level". Check the box, "Run as administrator".

Then you won't have to open MMMX as administrator each time you use it.

You will automatically  run it as administrator.

MMMX works fine for me now.  I use it mostly to remix my own recordings.
