Error trying to use GPU for Export of Stereo3d: Side-by-side

dean-z wrote on 9/30/2021, 5:15 AM

I'm getting the following error when trying to export Stereo3d: Side-by-side using the GPU. I have Export set to use the GPU in the Hardware Acceleration settings and in the Export Advanced Settings. When I export to Anaglyph format I do not have this problem. My system is a Surface Book 3, Windows 10, Intel Iris Plus Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 with Max-Q Design. Both GPU drivers are up-to-date. I have the same problem on my Desktop system which is Windows 10, NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti. I'm using Move Edit Pro Version 21.0.1.87 (UDP3), UG code 8463 KA1.

How can this be resolved?

Does anyone know if this has been fixed in an update? I gave up trying to use MEP because of this and have been using Adobe After Effects. However, I would prefer to use MEP because its easier.

@dean-z

Hi

The message you are receiving is a generic error with several possible causes.

The GPU drivers are not up to date

  • RTX 2080 drivers are currently Game Ready Driver - 497.29, or Studio Driver - 472.84
  • Intel Iris Plus - 30.0.101.1191

. . . . Move Edit Pro Version 21.0.1.87 . . . .

MEP is missing the several updates - the latest is v 21.0.1.111.

There is something on the timeline, an effect change of object type etc, at the export dialogs indicated movie time when the crash occurred, which has caused an unknown error.

Hi @johnebaker.

My GPU drivers were up to date at the time I originally posted about this problem. Do any of the MEP updates since 21.0.1.87 have fixes for exporting using the GPU?

johnebaker wrote on 12/22/2021, 7:47 AM

@dean-z

Hi

You should update to the latest patch, there are several relevant fixes in the .97 and .111 patches fixing various issues including an export crash, a crash that can occur when switching GPU's and memory leaks.

@johnebaker

I can't update since I no longer have MEP. I returned and received a refund because of the problem. I would gladly use MEP again if I new the problem of exporting Stereo3D:Side-by-side using NVIDIA GPUs was fixed. Do you know if that's the case?

Hi.

Few of the regular users here do any 3D editing so you may have to wait a long while before anyone can confirm or deny whether the program now works with your content. I think it best and possibly a lot quicker to contact the Magix support team by raising a ticket.

Hi

What is the source video format and camera used?

Experimenting with 'pseudo 3D' I can export 4K UHD all variations of formats, ie anaglyph, SBS half width etc without crashing in MEP 2022 v 21.0.1.111 using the RTX 2060 in my laptop.

However I would caution that you may not get the same.

@johnebaker

Could you post your Program Settings > Device options and your Export settings when you used Stereo3D: SBS - half width? Also, the driver version for your RTX 2060? Thank you.

Hi

Device option settings:

Export settings:

RTX 2060 driver version when I tested is 472.47 (30.0.14.7247) there is a newer driver 472.84 (30.0.14.7284) available.

This is program interface and timeline I used for testing.
