Error writing to disc

Magix Help

PROBLEM: My Magix will not write to my disc drive.

I do not have high speed internet.  I normally use Magix off-line.  I usually use a public access (library) high speed internet for my computer updates.  I recently opened Magix while connected to the high speed connection.  There appears to be quite a lot of data transfer when I open Magix on the high speed connection.  Could there have been some change made to my computer at that time?   I will attach a copy of the end of the error log.

I tried 3 times (to write to disc) a newly created Magix file and the same failure occurred.  I then loaded a previously created (and successfully written to DVD) Magix file and it also failed to write.

The Read and Write appear to be functioning properly on my disc drive.  I used a disc copy program and copied a previously recorded (Magix) DVD and wrote it back out to a ‘new’ DVD – all appeared to function properly.  Therefore, it appears that my DVD drive is functioning properly.

I would appreciate any help you might could give me.

Thanks, Jack

@Jack-Peebles

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The burn log would suggest that the DVD discs may be 'bad' - this is more frequent if you are using non-branded or store branded discs or DVD+R discs.

Try using the Image recorder option in the burn dialog instead of the DVD drive. This will create an ISO image of the DVD on your computer, which you can load and play with VLC.

I use DVD-RW discs for first burn either using the ISO image created or direct to disc. This enables testing which often shows up issues/corrections/adjustments needed that are missed in the computer screen playback and avoids creating 'coasters'.

Once a good DVD-RW is burned and tested, I will use this disc and copy it to a quality branded DVD-R disc, in my case with Nero Burning ROM, if you do not have Nero then ImgBurn is a free disc burning/copying software.

Thank you John. I am using Memorex DVD-R discs. I have had good luck with them in the past, but as I remember, I have had previous failures to write out Magix DVD's. I have a reliable DVD copy program and I don't seem to have any problems making a copy, after I have a good original. I've enjoyed using Magix, but admit that I don't know all I should to use it efficiently. Thank you for your help. I will give your suggestions a try.
