Export Settings Differ From Movie Settings

MEP MX Plus / Mep 2013 Plus

Often I get the message as shown in the image attached.

I've been ignoring it and exporting anyway and getting fine results.

When I review the edited pre-exported videos they seem fine.

Although my movies seem okay, by choosing to ignore the message, could I be getting inferior results?

Can anyone advise just what it means and how I best resolve it?

Thanks In Advance.

Hi,

That message will pop up when you go to export a video and the Resolution, Frame Rate, and or Aspect Ratio are different in the export settings than they are in the Movie settings.  In the 2 examples below you can see that resolution and frame rate are different which will trigger this message

The way to avoid it is to make sure that your movie settings are the same as your export settings.

But does that matter George? I have, in many cases, ignored and preceded with ‘Continue’ and the movie came well.
However I will be thankful if I am let known the standard and good proportions to set the resolution, Frame Rate, and or Aspect Ratio that will yield  a better quality of my mpeg4 videos?

Hi,

I am not sure that it matters for things like youtube videos, but for client videos, I try to maintain the frame rate, resolution, and aspect ratio on both movie and export settings the same as the original video clips that are in the production.  Sometimes it is not possible especially if different cameras were used, but I always look at the files before I import them to see which settings are the most common among them and use those settings.

Does it make a huge difference? Probably not, I just think that even a small difference will make the production less than it could be.

Hi

My two pennies worth - the only time I have seen it make a difference is when you change the aspect ratio to something different than the actual project settings.

I often make DVD copies of my HD MEP/VPX projects - however I do keep the aspect ratio the same and bump up the bitrate to the maximum that will allow the video to fit on a DVD - DL if required by the length of the movie or space requirement

George, John and Ray

Thanks for the explanations and screen prints.

I will pay more attention to these details in the future.

As George says.................

I just think that even a small difference will make the production less than it could be.

Thanks
