Export to MPEG4 Error "The export was not successful. Please try again with another export format and check to make sure enough hard drive space is available."

Hi,

I am a newby and experience problems exporting a movie in mpeg4. The total lenght of the movie is 1h20 min, composed of several separate video files and one WAV sound file that has been recorded separately and imported in a separate channel to MAGIX Movie Edit Pro MX Premium  version 11.0.1.4 (2012?).

I am looking to create the following two file formats: 

1. Low res version for uploading to YouTube (For this version I am trying to produce a mpeg4 format that can be uploaded to YouTube, I am keeping it mpeg 4 high res to be able to use the same version for the production of a BlueRay later on)

2. Later: BlueRay for viewing on HDTV TV set

ORIGINAL RECORDING:

The original AVCHD files have been shot with the following config: AVCHD 1920 x 1080, 16:9, recording mode 24 Mbps, frame rate 60i standard.

COMPRESSED:

I then compressed the original AVCHD files to MPEG 4 using FormatFactory in oder to reduce file size (original AVCHD files discarded afterwards). Screenshot of MediaInfo of compressed video files is attached: MPEG4 1920 x 1080, 16:9, 14 Mbps. These compressed versions have been imported to MAGIX MX Edit Pro for editing. 

I am failing to export a mpeg4 version of the movie, geeting error message: "The export was not successful. Please try again with another export format and check to make sure enough hard drive space is available".

I have tried to find an answer in discussions, and tried to replicate johnebaker's recommendations for mpeg4 export configuration, but to no avail:

You are missing some patches to MEP MX the last version was 11.0.6.4.

To update your MEP click Help, Online update

Not recommended for several reasons

  1. You are losing quality doing this.
     
  2. You are wasting time and effort doing something that is unnecessary and introducing a potential source of error.
     
  3. MEP can handle the full AVCHD files and export to mp4
     
  4. In the mp4 export settings you can compress the files by changing the resolution and / or  bitrate settings if you require.

Why?  - you have thrown away the highest quality video sources you have and need for Blu-ray disc.

Let MEP do all the work for you - it is quicker and you retain your original high quality source video for future use.

It may be your USB ports that the ext HDD is connected to is going into power saving mode - you need to change the power saving settings of your computer to stop them doing this.

How you do this depends on your version of Windows.

Hi johnebaker,

Thank you for getting back to me. The recordings were made as AVCHD and then compresssed due to lacking disk space, i.e. I had no other choice than to compress each end of day to be able to record the entire series of events. The event planner authorized me to record more than was initially planned.

I now copied the files, sound and MEP project to desktop to see if USB of external would be the culprit, but the problem persists: After a frame or two, the export stops and I receive the error message described above. Sometimes MEP exports an entire sequence or two - an then stops. 

I really why it does this - sequences and the entire movie play fine in MEP.
