Export with the XDCAM HD422 or IMX/D10 file format

Hi, I am using Movie Edit Pro 2015 Plus on a Windows 10 Pro machine to create a TV spot. I need to produce a video with the XDCAM HD422 or the IMX/D10 file format, with a audio level of 10dBFS (ref) and audio compliance of 23LUFS, and with a bit rate of more than 30Mbit/s? Is it possible? If so, could anyone please tell me how may I do it? Thank you very much.

I'm sorry no-one has answered your question by now Miguel, but there may be several reasons for this.

First, you have spouted a lot of specifications with no content or information about your project.

What do you term a TV spot? A commercial, news item, or something else?

What file formats are you using? it's no good giving camera models and makes without the relevant data about the recorded material.

Do you understand you have only told us the type of metering to be used as your ref guide?

The audio compliance is a broadcast requirement, it can be found on the relevant broadcast requirement sites along with the reference material needed to comply.

30Mbits per scond is actually quite low for broadcast. Where did this figure come from?

As a reply from what I can make of your enquiry so far though, I would say the current version of MEP should be able to handle the video side of things but the audio may be trickier to achieve having had a brief internet seach on the broadcast specification requirements. I can't comment on your older version of MEP as I have no reference to its capabilities.

Hi

. . . . XDCAM HD422 or the IMX/D10 file format, with a audio level of 10dBFS (ref) and audio compliance of 23LUFS . . . .

This is not achievable with Movie Edit Pro 2015 - it does not support::

  • XDCAM, I assume you mean the MXF file format, and IMX/D10 formats are not supported

  • the EBU R128 audio encoding required to meet the audio LUFS requirement

You will have to upgrade you software to Video Pro X, the specifications say it does have the required support - download the trial version before purchasing in order to check, however it may also involve the purchase of an additional codec as well.

Hi CubeAce and johnebake

Thank you very much for the answers and sorry for the lack of information. I am a novice in these matters…

The video is for an institutional commercial and is composed of animated images (made with the MPE effects). Please find the link for the video specifications: http://media.rtp.pt/empresa/mais-rtp/parcerias-comerciais/ (that I should have sent with the first comment) .

Thanks again.

Regards

Hi

Thanks for the link to the video requirement of RTP.

The first that is apparent is that the XDCAM / IMX format is 'Formato Recomendado', this would suggest that they may accept other formats.

Have you contacted them to see if they do accept other formats?

As I said earlier. The specs are a broadcast standard, normally to an MPEG2 or an MPEG4 output. Assuming you are using a Sony camera, which format are you recording in and at what resolution? As long as you don't add any colour grading or similar the video side (transitions etc should be fine) you should be OK as the camera should be recording to the compliance of XDCAM / IMX if you keep to the required minimum bit rate. I'm just worried the MEP mixer isn't up to what you will need for the audio side. At least not without some form of method for checking calibration at the least. There are other aspects of the audio requirement I'm not familiar with, nor the need for compliance to the standards laid out. All my broadcast experience was with FM radio requirements so unfortunately not in a position to offer advice for TV.

I am glad John EB has replied to you as his technical knowledge of MEP if much better than my own.
