Exported still image differs from last frame?

I've been searching in vain for the discussion I know for sure we've had before about this...

I use the Export movie > Single frame as BMP dozens of times daily. But once in a while I'll end up baffled why, after butting it up to the right of the previous section, there's a noticable discontinuity at that point. IOW, the still differs slightly in position and/or size from the video clip's last frame, at which the snapshot was taken. So you get an unaccepatble 'glitch'. This is very rare, but I'm darned if I can remember why it ever happens? More important, how to fix it? Without resorting to exporting the previous multi-track section first, of course.

Hi Terry,

I was racking my brain on this one. I found one place where John E. Baker replied about the Create still frame problem that I found. Here it is.

I recall that you also asked the question quite a while back, I believe, and I recall an answer about the brightness not being the same. So, maybe there are 3 answers out there.

Hi John,

Thanks, glad to have you on the case too!

That thread you referenced, with Peter's explanation that solved that particular problem, isn't applicable in this latest case. This was a JPG in track 1 with an effect applied. Logically it seems to me that the snapshot (BMP or JPG) should have been identical.

I got around it by two alternative methods.

1. The obvious one of exporting the section and taking a snapshot of the last frame of that.

2. Exporting the last few frames as an animated GIF, opening that in my ancient Animation Shop program, locating the last frame and saving that.

But later, after restarting MEP 2014, I repeated my original BMP approach with the same effect (and I think the same JPG in track 1) and this time I had no glitch. When I get time I'll revisit this topic methodically and try to pin it down.

BTW, in that earlier thread you mentioned the Create still frame feature. As that's only for a video object I couldn't use that it in this case either.
