Exporting SINGLE FRAME Pictures

weedavy6969 wrote on 12/8/2014, 5:39 PM

How do you export a single frame JPG without having 2 blocks of black on either side?

What have I done wrong?

I added a .png of the bear to the background photo and want to send it to a friend as a normal picture!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

To export a still image of the current timeline position (as shown in the preview monitor) you use File > Export movie with one of the Still options as shown here:

You should not have any black bars in your image if your preview monitor and project settings are correctly set.

I'm puzzled though. Presumably you saved that posted image from a simple screenshot? So if its quality was OK for your purposes why didn't you just crop it in your image editor?

Hi Thanks for the reply Terry..

The picture I posted ..WAS using the FILE>EXPORT MOVIE as still .jpg option (and NOT a screenshot!)...! But because the picture was vertical it looked like that on the timeline with the 2 black edges...!

You mentioned " if your preview monitor and project settings are correctly set....."..any idea what the settings should be to do the job?

Again..Thanks for taking the time to help me! Much Appreciated!

Dave

Hi,

You get the black borders because your video size is larger than the image size. Simply crop the borders off of the imge by using an image program and save it. You can use Photo Designer 7 if you don't have another program.
